MSAD 60 officials say one is a student at Vivian E. Hussey Primary School, and the other student attended Noble Middle School, both in Berwick. The district says the students lived in different towns, and the cases are not related, but that didn't keep some parents from taking precautions. Officials sent a letter to parents Wednesday informing them of the two cases. Officials with Maine Center for Disease Control says viral meningitis, the most common type of meningitis, can have the same symptoms as bacterial meningitis. That includes ever, nausea and vomiting, but there is no treatment and symptoms can last up to ten days.
